It’s Time to Repair that Rip on your Ear!

If you love wearing earrings as much as I do, you may have experienced the downside—stretched or ripped earlobes. As board-certified dermatologists, we’ve seen it all: a stretched-out hole from heavy earrings, a ripped earlobe due to a child who heartily grabbed for your hanging earring, and more. The result can be a large hole where you used to have a barely noticeable piercing, or a complete rip through one or both earlobes.

If your earlobes are stretched-out or ripped through, the look and function are just not the same. I know the frustration of a beloved earring that hangs facing down or is even lost in a stretched-out earlobe.

Luckily, your board-certified dermatologists can easily repair your earlobe. We start with a cosmetic consultation via a telehealth or in-person visit where we review the procedure and everything you need to know. We perform the cosmetic surgery under local anesthesia in our office. It takes about a half hour, and sutures are generally removed one week later. We advise waiting a month to re-pierce the earlobe.

We look forward to restoring your earlobes and getting you back to the beautiful earring business!
