Flo Markowitz in the SSDP Gallery
Ireland, where she was born and lived until the age of 23, is one of two places that have provided great inspiration for Flo’s work. The other is New England, where she has lived for over 30 years.
Adept in both watercolor and oil, Flo prefers to create atmosphere in her work rather than attaining strict realism. In keeping with her passion for trees, Flo has devoted her newest collection of work to close-up images of branches and brilliantly colored leaves.
Flo’s original paintings are available for purchase at numerous galleries in the Boston area. They are also held in private collections in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom.
Due to the calming effect of her work, Flo’s paintings have been displayed by various medical facilities in the Boston area. Her most recent Foliage collection was chosen by South Shore Hospital for their new Emerson Wing, which opened in January 2013.
“Always, my purpose is that my paintings will create in the viewer a sense of calmness in our all-too-fast-paced world,” she says.
